登校時に「金環日食」…観察のため早出・休校も : 科学 : YOMIURI ONLINE（読売新聞）
首都圏で見られるのは１７３年ぶりとなる金環日食が起こる５月２１日、登校時間をずらしたり休校にしたりして、安全に観察できるよう配慮する学校が相次いでいる。太陽がリング状に見えるハイライトは午前７時半前後で、登校時間帯と重なるためだ。観察中に交通事故に遭ったり、肉眼で太陽を見て目を痛めたりすることのないようにと、専門家らは「各学校で工夫してほしい」と呼びかけている。埼玉県所沢市内にある小中学校全４７校では当日、始業時間を１時間以上早めて日食観察会を行う。地元の光学機器メーカー「ビクセン」が、製造している日食観察用のめがね２３５０個を寄付したのがきっかけ。市内の全児童生徒の約１割分にあたるという。小中学校の校長会では、「世紀の天文現象を子どもたちに安全に見せたい」という現場教師らの熱意を受けて、観察会の実施を決めた。同会の中正美会長（向陽中学校校長）は「事故を防ぐとともに、子どもたちの科学
